Community events afford members
numerous opportunities to serve worthy
causes. Participation can involve chairing or co-chairing
projects, fund-raising activities for a charity, or
volunteerism at a project. Beneficiaries include hospitals,
schools, charity
organizations and countless other
causes.
In recent years, the Jaycees have
organized events such as the Buffalo Beach Ball to
benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation as well as 2 Pack a
Backpack Drive with the Boys and Girls Club and Channel 2 News,
participation with Olmstead Parks Party for the Parks, Fall Tree
Planting, golf tournament fundraiser for Youth Gold Programs,
and Memorial Day Flag Planting at Forest Lawn.
These events are just waiting
for an enthusiastic member to make them happen. Many of our
projects have strong track records and we have veteran members
who are ready
and
willing to assist new members in chairing projects.
There are
many ways for you to get involved in community development activities, and the
most rewarding is through project participation. All a project
needs is an enthusiastic chairperson and excitement from the
general membership to lead the way.
Your interest in helping others
and your efforts to be involved will combine to make you a part
of a great winning team!
